We believe worship transcends songs and sounds. Though it can be beautifully expressed through music, worship is more about a heart posture and a daily way of living. As worshippers, we are called to abide in the love of the Father, to live in continual gratitude for the sacrifice of Jesus, and to surrender to the leading of the Holy Spirit. When a worshipper is committed to that pursuit, then music becomes a powerful tool to express our hearts to God and to lead others in authentic encounters with His Presence. That is the purpose of the Pure & Simple School of Worship— to invest in the heart of the worshipper while also cultivating practical skills and tools needed to support our worship expressions both in individual and corporate environments.

THE JOURNEY

1. WEEKLY MUSIC LESSONS
Students participate in weekly one-on-one music lessons that focus on:

  • Cultivating practical and technical skills in their chosen worship expression (guitar, piano, voice, or songwriting) utilizing primarily worship songs

  • Developing a foundation of music theory as needed in a worship environment

  • Coaching for worship set preparation as needed

  • Songwriting and demo development

 These sessions:

  • Are based out of the student’s designated mentor’s home studio in Noblesville, IN (day/time to be scheduled individually with your designated mentor)

  • Do not meet the first week of each month

2. MONTHLY GROUP DISCIPLESHIP SESSIONS
Students participate in monthly group discipleship sessions that focus on:

  • Understanding and developing a theology of worship through Bible teaching and group discussion

  • Developing and exercising practical tools and spiritual disciplines (i.e. prayer, journaling, scripture memorization, personal worship, sharing testimonies) to support an enduring lifestyle of worship

These sessions:

  • Replace that week’s one-on-one music mentorship session

  • Meet at the West’s home studio in Noblesville, IN

  • Meet the first Wednesday of each month from 4:30-6pm for all Apprentice students

    • These worshippers have an understanding of basic spiritual principles, have developed some daily spiritual habits, and have a desire to be challenged and grow in deeper intimacy with God.

  • Meet the first Thursday of each month from 4:30-6pm for all Novice students

    • These worshippers may be young in their faith and still growing in their understanding of basic spiritual principles, yet they have a desire to learn and grow in deeper intimacy with God.

3. PURE & SIMPLE WORSHIP GATHERINGS

Each semester culminates with a Pure & Simple Worship Gathering where family and friends are invited to attend as students lead worship, reflecting their musical and spiritual growth from that semester.
